Smoking Kills

Will you ever smoke? Have you already? After hearing and seeing the things that happen to you after smoking many people stop. Smoking doesn’t make you cooler, prettier, or anything else; it does the exact opposite.Your basically smoking poison that is harming your body and has caused many people to die from it.

Some reasons people say they smoke for are that it makes them look cooler, better looking, pressure, and to fit in. None of these things are true; they just make you look worse and damage your body a lot. If you see pictures of how different people look after smoking it’s amazing. On a video I watched four people look at an autopsy and the lungs from a smoker were black and had holes in them. The cause of them being black is from the tar that is put in the cigarettes.

Poison. Cigarettes contain pure poison that harms your body and the people around you. The smoke from one cigarette contains over 4,000  chemicals. The tar from the cigarettes can block your lung which makes it harder for you to breath, if that happens your lungs won't spread as much oxygen.. The more you smoke the more your lungs will be blocked. It's extremely hard to stop smoking because of an addicting drug called nicotine.Your brain will want more and more because of the nicotine. If you keep on smoking you'll end up in heaven like the 443,000 people that die in a year.

Will you ever try smoking? Have you already? If so I hope this helps change your mind about smoking or prevents you from ever doing it.

Dark Utopia

Have you ever wonderedwhat living in a perfect world would be like? The novel The Giver by Lois Lowry shows how every utopian society has a dark side. Everyone in the community has all the same things and amount of people and even does everything at the same time. In the story “The Giver” Jonas see’s a baby get released and thinks it’s a horrible thing. As you can see, their community has a dark side.

One reason that every utopian society has a dark side is that someone will most likely find something out that there governor, leader, king, president, or anything else isn’t telling them. That could cause a utopia to become a normal world with conflicts and angry people if the things they weren’t telling them got out. If things get out of hand it wouldn’t be a utopia because it’s not a perfect world then. You would think that the giver community is not a perfect world because they release people and they can never return to their community. "For a contributing citizen to be released from the community was a final decision, a terrible punishment, an overwhelming statement of failure.” This quote is important because you can tell that the main character Jonas thinks this is a horrible thing.  Jonas is the one that notices and starts seeing things that other people can’t. There is most likely going to be one person in a utopian society that figures something out and can’t tell.

If you think a utopia is always perfect you’re wrong, they can change any minute. After reading the book “The Giver” by Lois Lowry you will notice that perfect places can have bad things happen.

The Giver Character

Jonas is struggling against his community that has made everyone the same. The major conflict in the book the giver is Person verse Society.

Jonas is twelve years old and lives in an almost perfect community. If someone doesn’t fit in or disobeys the rules the get released. Jonas starts to see beyond what the rest of his community can see after becoming the giver. He starts feeling more isolated from his community after understanding objects and ideas that his community can’t see. He understands why the previous giver was always so tired because he was weighed down with difficult concepts that he could not share.

Jonas wants to leave the community after seeing his father throw away an infant’s body. Jonas keeps a baby named Gabriel since his father failed to thrive him. Jonas is very important to Gabriel because he’s taking care of him. He b kidnaps Gabriel and leaves town to a new place with snow, hills, and animals. They have ran out of food and are very cold; Jonas no longer cares about himself as he believes his power is gone.
